Aruba's midrange 303 Series campus access points support high-performance 802.11ac with multiuser MU-MIMO (Wave 2). With the integrated BLE and 802.3af power, these series reduce total cost of ownership for enterprises.
Its compact design delivers 867 Mbps in 5GHz and 300 Mbps in 2.4GHz (for an aggregate peak data rate of 1.2Gbps). 2x2:2SS design makes it suitable for medium-device-density environments, including schools, retail stores, warehouses, hotels, and enterprise offices.
SPECIFICATION:
➢ KEY FEATURES:
➛Maximum aggregate peak data rate up to 1.2 Gbps
➛ Secondary PoEout port of another AP used to daisy-chain
➛ IoT connectivity with Bluetooth
➛MU-MIMO-aware ClientMatch resolves sticky client issues
➛ Contributes to Aruba's Dynamic Segmentation solution
➢UNIQUE FEATURE:
▸Unified AP – controller-based or controller-less- these Series can be deployed with either ArubaOS or InstantOS.
▸ Dual radio 802.11ac access point with MU MIMO (wave 2) - Supports up to 867Mbps in 5GHz band and 300Mbps in 2.4GHz band (with 2SS/HT40 clients).
▸ Built-in Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) radio -Enables position-based services with multiple beacons at once -Enables asset tracking with Asset Tag
▸ Advanced Cellular Coexistence (ACC) - Reduces interference from 3G/4G cellular networks, distributed antenna systems, small cells, and femtocells
▸ Adaptive Radio Management (ARM) - AirMatch automatically adjusts channel, width, and power settings according to the environment and client density. It ensures airtime fairness and keeps APs free of RF interference for reliable, high-performance WLANs
▸Aruba Secure Core -Device assurance: Secure storage of credentials and keys via Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
- Wireless intrusion protection eliminates the need for separate RF sensors and security appliances with integrated wireless intrusion protection.
- Advanced online threats can be identified, classified, and blocked with IP reputation and security services
➢OPERATING MODES
▸Supports both controller-based and controller-less deployment modes, providing maximum flexibility.
▸Controller-based mode – Works with Aruba Mobility Controllers, providing centralized configuration, data encryption, policy enforcement, and network services.
▸ A controller-less (Instant) mode virtualizes the controller function by aggregating APs into a cluster. It is easy to migrate to controller-based deployments as the network grows.
▸ Branch deployment via Remote AP (RAP)
▸ Detection and containment of rogues using air monitors (AM)
▸ A spectrum analyzer (SA) dedicated to identifying RF interference sources
➢ OTHER FEATURES
➛ Wifi:
AP 303: dual radio, 5GHz 802.11ac 2x2 MIMO and 2.4GHz 802.11n 2x2 MIMO
5GHz (radio 0):
▸ Up to 867 Mbps wireless data rate for individual 2SS VHT80 clients using two spatial streams MIMO
▸ Up to 867 Mbps wireless data rate to two 1SS MU-MIMO capable client devices simultaneously using two spatial streams
2.4GHz (radio 1): Two spatial streams SU MIMO for 300 Mbps wireless data rates for individual 2SS HT40 clients
▸ Each radio supports up to 256 associated clients, and each radio supports up to 16 BSSIDs
▸ Improved receiver performance through maximum ratio combining (MRC)
▸ A CDD/CSD diversity scheme improves RF performance downlink
▸ Channels with short guard intervals (20MHz, 40MHz, 80MHz)
▸ Increased range and better reception with space-time block coding
▸ Low-density parity check (LDPC) increases throughput and error correction efficiency
▸ Increased range and reliability of signals by transmitting beam-forming (TxBF)
➛ WIFI Antenna:
▸ Dual-band vertically polarized downtilt omnidirectional antennas with peak antenna gain of 3.3dBi at 2.4GHz and 5.8dBi at 5GHz.
▸ When combining both antenna patterns per radio, the peak gain of the average (effective) pattern is 2.1dBi in 2.4GHz and 5.7dBi in 5GHz.
Side view of vertical planes (elevation planes with antennas rotated 0 and 90 degrees) (averaged patterns for all antennas)
➢ EXTERNAL FEATURES:
➛ RJ45 Port:
▸ Single Ethernet network interface with the capabilities of 10/100/1000BASE-T (RJ-45)
▸ Automatic detection of link speed and MDI/MDX
▸ Ethernet Energy Efficient (EEE) based on IEEE 802.3az
▸ PoE-PD is 48V dc (nominal) 802.3at/bt PoE
➛ Visual indicators: Tri-colored LEDs for system and radio status
➛ Reset button: Factory reset (during device startup), LED mode control (normal/off).
➛ Serial console interface: physical USB port, proprietary
➢ POWER SOURCE:
▸ It supports direct DC power and Power over Ethernet (PoE).
▸ DC power is preferred over PoE when both are available.
▸ Direct DC input: 12 Volts DC nominal, +/- 5% tolerance
▸ DC power interface accepts circular plugs with 2.1/5.5 mm center-positive and 9.5 mm length
▸ Power over Ethernet (PoE): 48Vdc (nominal) source compliant with IEEE 802.3af standard
▸ Maximum power consumption (worst-case): 10.1W (PoE) or 8.8W (DC).
▸ Power consumption (worst-case) in idle mode: 4.2W (PoE) or 4.0W (DC).
NOTE1: Power source has to be purchased separately.
NOTE2: In terms of reliability, the MTBF is 795khrs (91 years) at +25C.
